HR Technology Specialist

Van Oord

Rotterdam
Contractor
Posted on: September 3 2026

This is a role with breadth by design. Rather than being responsible for one specific Workday module, you will work across different areas of Workday, connected applications and HR processes. You may contribute to a project, lead a smaller improvement initiative, solve a complex system or process challenge, or help deliver one of the many items on our multi-year HR technology roadmap. We have a clear roadmap and a strong ambition for continuous improvement.

You are not defined by a specific Workday module. Your scope is shaped by the challenges and opportunities ahead, giving you the freedom to work across systems, processes and projects where you can make the biggest impact.

As part of the Founding the Future program, Van Oord is transforming the way we work through the implementation and continuous development of Workday, ERP and Crew Management solutions. Within this landscape, the HR Technology team plays an important role in making sure our systems, processes and data work together effectively and continue to evolve with the needs of the business.

YOUR IMPACT
  • Shape and deliver improvements across our Workday ecosystem, from identifying opportunities and gathering requirements to solution design, configuration, testing and implementation.
  • Drive improvements across Workday and connected systems.
  • Connect the dots between systems and processes, troubleshoot complex issues, manage dependencies and translate business needs into practical, scalable technology solutions.
  • Continuously improve how we work, identify opportunities to simplify processes, reduce manual work, strengthen data quality and make better use of our HR technology landscape.
  • Collaborate across HR, IT and the wider business to deliver roadmap initiatives, support adoption, share knowledge and take ownership beyond traditional module boundaries.
ABOUT YOU
  • A bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, IT/IS, MIS or a related field, combined with several years of hands-on Workday experience in areas such as configuration, business processes, integrations or continuous improvement.
  • A broad understanding of HR technology, with experience across multiple Workday areas and/or connected HR systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex processes and dependencies, identify root causes and turn business needs into clear, practical solutions.
  • A proactive and adaptable mindset: you spot opportunities, take ownership and enjoy moving between different topics, projects and challenges rather than working within narrowly defined boundaries.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the confidence to challenge and influence stakeholders and work effectively across global, cross-functional and virtual teams, while maintaining high standards for data quality, security and integrity.
WE OFFER
  • A salary that matches your responsibilities and experience
  • Travel allowance (€0.31 per km) and home office allowance (€2,45 per day)
  • 32 holidays (of which a maximum of 7 are collective)
  • Variable bonus, partly dependent on company results
  • Attractive pension scheme
  • Option for collective health insurance
  • Extensive development opportunities
  • Various events and sport activities, such as skiing, sailing weekends, cycling and motorcycling
  • An environment where you can broaden your expertise, have visible impact and shape your own role as our technology landscape evolves.
