Summary

DEME is searching for a motivated design engineer to reinforce our cable system design team. If you are a young professional with engineering expertise in relevant industry, this is an excellent opportunity to join an experienced team of engineers specialized in the successful delivery of cable projects. As a design engineer, you will be leading the cable design aspects of different projects and tenders. Together, we work on DEME’s vision of creating a sustainable future.

Your responsibilities
  • Lead the design and engineering activities for offshore wind, inter-array, export and interconnector cable systems.
  • Provide technical support throughout project execution and tender activities.
  • Review and verify cable system designs, calculations and supplier deliverables.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications and relevant industry standards such as IEC, ISO, DNV and CIGRE.
  • Support cable ampacity studies, short-circuit assessments and electrical system evaluations.
  • Verify cable type testing, qualification programmes and certification requirements.
  • Contribute to technical risk assessments and identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Support technical clarifications during tender phases and provide engineering input for cost estimates and schedules.
  • Assist manufacturing, installation, testing and commissioning activities.
  • Participate in FATs, mock-ups and offshore testing campaigns.
  • Perform site visits and offshore assignments to support troubleshooting and project delivery.
  • Contribute to HAZID, HAZOP, lessons learned sessions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with DEME's QHSES standards and safety culture.

Your profile
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in offshore wind, subsea cables, power transmission or electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of HVAC and/or HVDC cable systems is a strong asset.
  • Familiarity with offshore electrical infrastructure, cable design principles and industry standards.
  • Experience working with suppliers, contractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured engineering mindset.
  • Comfortable working in an international project environment and interacting with various stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel internationally and occasionally support offshore activities.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • A proactive team player who combines ownership, collaboration and a continuous improvement mindset.
