SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

THE ROLE

Mammoet Australia is seeking experienced Open Crane Operators to join our FMG Christmas Creek maintenance crew. This is a salary-based position on a 2:2 FIFO roster from Perth, operating primarily on day shift. Night work may be required as determined by FMG operational requirements.

Working within a heavy workshop environment supporting HME maintenance activities, this role requires operators who can work autonomously, demonstrate strong safety leadership, and take a proactive approach to managing their work. Operators will be part of a collaborative team environment while also being responsible for self-managing daily tasks with minimal direct supervision.

You will be required to support maintenance works across our fleet, including:

  • MAC25
  • LTM1250
  • LTM160

This position operates on a Tuesday-to-Tuesday roster.


WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Mobilisation and demobilisation of assigned cranes in the required configuration
  • Operating cranes safely and efficiently in line with work standards and instructions
  • Positioning and repositioning the load
  • Managing crane counterweight installation and removal activities
  • Supporting rigging and lifting activities as required
  • Performing periodic preventative and routine maintenance
  • Working closely with Fortescue personnel to support workshop maintenance activities
  • Demonstrating strong safety initiative, proactive hazard management, and leadership in the field

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • Local West Australian resident
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in heavy lifting and crane operations
  • Strong background operating mobile cranes with CO classification
  • Experience working autonomously with minimal supervision
  • LTM crane experience highly desirable
  • High Risk Work Licence - CO & RA/RI
  • HR Driver’s Licence
  • Forklift Ticket highly desirable
  • Proven commitment to safety, personal accountability, and proactive risk management
  • Ability to work effectively within a close-knit team environment
