Your Role

As part of a large procurement organisation, you will be responsible for managing our procurement activities at an operational level for your relevant category. You will be supported in this by Procurement Excellence and a team of category buyers.As an operational food buyer, you will have a broad procurement portfolio comprising all food and related products on our various ships and shipyards at home and abroad.In this role, you will work on the range of food, non-food (e.g. cookware, kitchen appliances, etc.) and restricted products (e.g. alcohol) supplied to our ships and shipyards.Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Requesting quotations and selecting ship suppliers with the aim of achieving the best value for money.
  • Managing food lists relating to shore-based operations and suppliers.
  • Monitoring the correct delivery of ordered products to ensure that delivery deadlines are met.
  • Monitoring and handling complaints with a view to the ongoing evaluation of suppliers.
  • Holding regular (online) meetings with suppliers to improve the quality of deliveries and collaboration.
  • Monitoring invoices received to ensure correct payment to suppliers.
  • Negotiating and purchasing standard equipment. Subsequently, also compiling catalogues for standard equipment on board the vessels: kitchen fittings, galley equipment, etc., in consultation with the Procurement Manager.
  • Adjusting orders placed by the ship’s officers.

ProfileYou hold a bachelor’s degree or have equivalent experience. Experience in retail, hotel management and/or kitchen work, as well as initial experience within a procurement organisation, would be an advantage. You are a good communicator, meticulous and cost-conscious. You can express yourself fluently in Dutch and English.
