As an HR Services Officer, you play a key role in delivering reliable, accurate and people-focused HR services throughout the entire employee lifecycle. You are the first point of contact for HR-related questions from employees, managers and the wider HR organization, providing support in line with established HR policies, procedures and guidelines.

You handle both routine and more complex HR enquiries and transactions. You independently manage standard HR processes, seek support where required for sensitive or complex cases, and provide clear, practical advice by translating HR policies and procedures into day-to-day practice. By understanding the context behind each request, you ensure timely, high-quality and customer-focused HR support.

Compliance is a key part of your role. You ensure that HR processes comply with applicable employment legislation and Van Oord's policies and procedures. You are responsible for maintaining accurate employee records in Workday and managing related personnel files. In addition, you actively identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to the continuous optimization of HR processes, templates and ways of working.


Your Workplace

You will become part of the HR Services team, which is responsible for delivering operational HR services across Van Oord. Together with your colleagues, you support employees, managers and the wider HR organization, ensuring HR processes are delivered efficiently, accurately and with a strong customer focus.

Your base will be our headquarters in Rotterdam. You will work closely with HR Business Partners, HR Advisors, the HR Centers of Expertise and other internal stakeholders on a daily basis. Collaboration, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement are central to the way the team works. Together, you contribute to a professional HR service that enhances the employee experience and supports the ongoing development of the HR organization.

YOUR IMPACT
  • As an HR Services Officer, you play a key role in shaping the employee experience at Van Oord. You ensure that employees and managers can rely on professional, timely and accurate HR support throughout the entire employee lifecycle. You support a wide range of HR processes, from hiring and onboarding to employee changes, benefits administration, internal mobility and offboarding. In this role, you work closely with employees, managers, HR Business Partners, HR Advisors, the HR Centers of Expertise and other internal stakeholders. Through your customer-focused approach, attention to quality and continuous improvement mindset, you contribute to efficient HR processes and deliver a positive experience for everyone interacting with HR.
ABOUT YOU
  • A Bachelor's degree or Bachelor's level of working and thinking, preferably in Human Resources or a related field.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in HR Services, HR Operations and/or HR Administration.
  • Experience in an international HR environment, including interpreting HR policies, processes and employment legislation across multiple countries.
  • The ability to independently manage both routine HR processes and more complex HR cases.
  • Experience working with Workday or a comparable HR Information System (HRIS).
  • Excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English, written and spoken.
  • A proactive, accurate and customer-focused mindset, with a strong drive for continuous improvement.
