Manage high-value tenders for greener energy projects

Do you want to manage complex tender processes that support the green transition? As Bid Manager, you will work with Commercial and Tender Management for HVDC Onshore and HVAC Offshoreprojects, coordinating the full offer process from tender to contract award. This role gives you the opportunity to work in a global company, collaborate with internal teams and external partners, and help shape proposals for high-voltage direct current cable projects.

Coordinate commercial tenders from request to contract

In this role, you will manage the full bid process for HVDC Onshore and HVAC Offshore projects, from tender review to final contract discussions. You will coordinate input from internal departments and partners, act as the main contact for customer-related tender topics, and support approval processes with senior management. Your work will include commercial assessment, risk review and the development of practical bid approaches.

Your responsibility will be to:

  • Coordinate departments and partners involved in the tender process
  • Manage customer communication and internal tender updates
  • Prepare and support tender negotiations and approval presentations
  • Review risks and check proposal plausibility before submission
  • Develop bid strategy and establish practical best practices

You will work closely with commercial, technical and management teams. The role supports Onshore HVDC and Offshore HVAC projects and is based in Cologne. Travel may be required for customer meetings, negotiations or internal alignment.

Experienced bid manager with commercial tender background

You are structured, clear in your communication and comfortable working with different stakeholders. You know how to manage several inputs, keep an overview of complex tender processes and support constructive discussions with customers and internal teams. You work with attention to detail, take responsibility for deadlines and can balance commercial needs, risk awareness and customer requirements in a professional way.

You also have:

  • A university degree in business, engineering or a related field
  • Several years of experience in bid management, proposal management, tender management or strategic procurement
  • Knowledge of Commercial and Tender Management
  • Experience with risk management in tender processes
  • Fluent German and very good written and spoken English

About NKT

Our company at a glance

In a globalised and interconnected world, with a rapidly increasing population and demand for a modern lifestyle, the need for power is constantly growing. At NKT, we have made it our purpose to bring power to life by helping meet the growing need for energy.

Founded in 1891, during the second industrial revolution, we pioneered the cable industry in the Nordics. Today, we master the fourth industrial revolution with our energy transportation expertise and cost-effective manufacturing facilities at the highest technological level, delivering lifetime value to our customers and the global society.

Trusted partnerships

We take pride in long-term relationships and effortless collaborations, making doing business with us simple, convenient, and efficient. Many of our customers have been with us for decades, maybe because we see ourselves as both their local partner and international supplier, always willing to go the extra mile to ensure the right cable solution.

Performing in real life

The environments in which our products and solutions function are often harsh and unfriendly. Laying down a long sea cable on the ocean floor in an unexpected storm or repairing 100-year-old power cables in the ground of a busy metropolis is not for everyone. We know that performance counts in challenging circumstances, and that is when we deliver.
