As Lead Rock Specialist, you’ll be part of the Cables & Pipelines product line within our Offshore Energy business unit. Together with our diverse and driven engineering team, you will work on subsea rock installation and landfall projects from tender to execution. You will design rock solutions that protect offshore wind turbines, subsea cables and pipelines. Our team leads the way in developing eco-friendly and nature-inclusive subsea rock installation solutions.

In this position you will report to the Senior Engineering Manager within the Productline and be a key member of our pool of senior experts. You’ll guide and supervise the engineering team, acting as the technical lead for rock design and installation activities and the focal point of contact for tenders, projects and internal stakeholders to ensure the technical quality, workload balance and knowledge development within the team.

YOUR IMPACT
  • You are able to translate your expertise into safe, innovative and effective installation methods — whether it's for a complex shore pull or scour protection at sea. As a Lead Rock Specialist you will:
  • Supervise and coordinate engineering activities for rock installation and landfall scopes throughout all project phases;
  • Ensure the quality of engineering deliverables and conduct peer reviews
  • Develop our knowledge base by mentoring engineers and reviewing their work
  • Support R&D initiatives and represent Van Oord in Joint Industry Projects
  • Strengthen our knowledge base by gathering and applying lessons learned
ABOUT YOU
  • You combine a solid engineering background with a strong set of leadership skills. You enjoy guiding technical discussions, creating alignment between parties and building trust. You’re structured and communicative, and your technical advice is translated into tangible impact for our tenders and projects. You possess:
  • A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Offshore, Subsea or Coastal engineering.
  • At least 8 years of relevant working experience
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken
  • Strong set of inter-personal, coordination and delegation skills
WE OFFER
  • A salary that matches your responsibilities and experience
  • Attractive travel allowance (€0.31 per km) and home working allowance (€2.45 per day)
  • 32 holidays (of which a maximum of 7 are collective)
  • Variable bonus
  • Attractive pension scheme
  • Option for collective health insurance (Van Oord pays for your supplementary package)
  • Extensive development opportunities, including a comprehensive online academy via Goodhabitz
  • Communities to join, such as Young Van Oord, Van Oord Women, and the Van Oord staff association
  • Various events and sports activities, such as skiing, sailing weekends, cycling, and motorcycling
