NKT
Join us and play a key role in the world’s transition to a green and sustainable future
At NKT, you step into one of the most important industries of our time — the energy sector. We are a major company enabling the green transition through high-voltage cable systems that connect offshore wind, strengthen power grids and secure the energy supply of tomorrow. What we do is unique, complex and essential for a sustainable future.
As an R&D Project Manager, you will be part of a global team that develops technologies few others in the world can match. Your efforts will directly support the next generation of energy infrastructure and expand our reach in the global market.
Contribute to groundbreaking development projects
Our R&D organization is developing new ways how energy is transmitted. Our team develops sustainable, high-performance solutions that raise the standard for what is possible in the cable industry.
In this role, you will handle key development projects from defining scope, planning budgets, coordinating resources and ensuring technical excellence. You will work closely with governance groups, product management, business leaders and external partners, serving as a link between line and project teams to ensure alignment and momentum.
Main responsibilities
Technical skills with a collaborative mindset
We are looking for a forward-thinking and communicative R&D Project Manager with a genuine interest in technology and a commitment to contribute to the green transition. You take ownership, create structure and collaborate effectively across functions and disciplines. Since many of our projects span longer timeframes, you demonstrate patience, thoroughness and attention to detail.
You have experience from development work within the industrial or engineering sector and a genuine interest in technology. You thrive in an environment where innovation, engineering excellence and long-term results go hand in hand.
Your background
Grow your skills while contributing to the green transition
NKT is committed to developing a diverse organization and culture where people of diverse backgrounds can grow and are inspired to do their best. We are committed to establishing gender diversity at NKT and encouraging all interested candidates to apply – even if you don’t tick all the boxes described.
We believe that a diverse organization enables long-term performance, and that an inclusive and welcoming culture creates a better work environment.
You will join a collaborative engineering environment with opportunities for professional development, training and participation in industry workshops and conferences. You will work with colleagues across departments and gain insight into advanced fiber optic technologies, high voltage systems and large scale infrastructure projects.
"I really appreciate the versatility of working as a project leader in the R&D department. Every day, you interact with highly skilled colleagues in their respective fields to achieve in-depth technical development of high-voltage cable systems. One day, you are in our high voltage laboratory discussing with assemblers, and the next day, you are presenting your project to technology management", says Sabina Strand Sr R&D Project Manager.

Join a diverse and international team of experts developing the power cable technology of the future, focusing on deeper seas, lower losses and higher performance. The technology department leads the company's R&D programme, including materials development, and operates some of the most advanced high-voltage testing centres in the industry. At NKT, we are all Connectors. We connect to develop leading power cable technologies that enable the world’s transition to renewable energy - and we stay connected to grow as people and professionals. NKT designs, manufactures and installs low-, medium- and high-voltage power cable solutions enabling reliable energy transmission. Since 1891, NKT has innovated the power cable technology, building the infrastructure from the first light bulbs to the megawatts created by renewable energy today.
NKT is headquartered in Denmark, operates from more than 30 countries worldwide, and employs 6,500 people globally. NKT is listed on Nasdaq Copenhagen and realised a revenue of EUR 3.6 billion in 2025. NKT - We connect a greener world. www.nkt.com

In a globalised and interconnected world, with a rapidly increasing population and demand for a modern lifestyle, the need for power is constantly growing. At NKT, we have made it our purpose to bring power to life by helping meet the growing need for energy.
Founded in 1891, during the second industrial revolution, we pioneered the cable industry in the Nordics. Today, we master the fourth industrial revolution with our energy transportation expertise and cost-effective manufacturing facilities at the highest technological level, delivering lifetime value to our customers and the global society.
We take pride in long-term relationships and effortless collaborations, making doing business with us simple, convenient, and efficient. Many of our customers have been with us for decades, maybe because we see ourselves as both their local partner and international supplier, always willing to go the extra mile to ensure the right cable solution.
The environments in which our products and solutions function are often harsh and unfriendly. Laying down a long sea cable on the ocean floor in an unexpected storm or repairing 100-year-old power cables in the ground of a busy metropolis is not for everyone. We know that performance counts in challenging circumstances, and that is when we deliver.
NKT connects a greener world with high-quality power cable technology and takes centre stage as the world moves towards green energy. NKT designs, manufactures, and installs low, medium, and high voltage power cable solutions enabling sustainable energy transmission.
