Are you the linking pin between the client, sales and the organization? Are you willing to develop excellent knowledge of our Defence portfolio and are you enthusiastic about designing the best solution for our clients? Then we might have the perfect challenge for you.   

  
In the role of Design & proposal engineer you play an important role in the pre-contractual phase. Together with the cost estimators and input from other stakeholders you develop a design for our colleagues in the sales department and provide them with all supporting technical information using your planning and project management skills to get the right information in time.  This is a role where a team player can flourish.

Within this role, you are:

Acting as the primary focal point for all design related topics and are known for your technical and product related knowledge. You are the person where everything comes together. On the one hand you’re the technical expert and on the other hand you’re able to develop a storyline for the client. You’re able to find the right tone of voice and translate technical solutions into a story that explains how the product that Royal IHC offers is going to be the solution for the client’s challenge.  And due to your enormous interest in shipbuilding and the Defence market you will be able to develop new concepts for expanding the portfolio of vessels and equipment in the near future.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • bachelor or master degree in Naval Architecture
  • theoretical and practical knowledge of hydrostatics, stability, hydrodynamics, construction, and strength theory
  • preferably at least three years of relevant experience in dredging, defence or offshore vessels
  • proficiency in conceptual thinking
  • experience with calculation and drawing software
  • insight into the feasibility of the customers' wishes and requirements and the ability to convert this into a concrete design
  • familiarity with both national and international ship legislation and safety regulations
  • excellent communication skills in Dutch and English, both spoken and written

Please note: a VOG (Verklaring Omtrent Gedrag) as well as the ability to obtain and maintain any required security clearance are a requirement for this role. Relevant screening will be part of the selection process.

Royal IHC offers you:  

  • A gross monthly salary between €4000,- and €5600 +8% holiday allowance (based on a fulltime working week).   
  • Good work/life balance with 40 vacation days for full-time employment with the option to buy or sell (additional) leave.   
  • The possibility to work from home with associated expense allowance and/or to perform the work on the basis of flexible working hours (depending on the position).   
  • A salary pension scheme in which matters are properly arranged in the event of accidental death, incapacity for work or unemployment.   
  • Participation (on a voluntary basis) in the Social Fund, on the basis of which care and related costs are reimbursed that are not covered by your health insurance.   
  • A training budget of €1,500 every three years.
