About the role:

Location: Sharjah

Hours: Full-time

The Testing, Inspection & Certification (TIC) Technician  is responsible for conducting comprehensive visual, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), and Magnetic Rope Testing (MRT) inspections of Motive FZE’s and client equipment, including crane and lifting wire ropes. The technician will also perform crane wire rope inspection, testing, and handling operations, and commission and operate spooling winches and associated equipment, ensuring all operations are performed within established safety and operational standards while maintaining clear and effective communication with clients and the Operations Department.

About the team:

As a part of our FZE team, you’ll become part of a small, hardworking, and skilled team who are used to working to a high standard and specification. Reporting to the Testing, Inspection & Certification (TIC) Division Manager for MENA, you will be supported by our team of onshore and offshore personnel working alongside you, whose goal, much like your own, will be to enable a quick and safe turn-around of equipment.

As well, you will be working alongside a committed and proud Motive team globally, who want to play their part in the growth of the business and support each other daily to create a positive, values-driven professional environment.

Responsibilities:

People

  • Adopt the Motive Offshore Group People Values and ensure their use is embedded throughout day-to-day tasks and decision making.
  • Liaise and build rapport with the client whilst at the worksite.    
  • Develop strong working relations with key stake-holders – clients, colleagues etc.
  • To be a positive ambassador for Motive Offshore Group Ltd.

  • HSEQ – compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations, and the company’s management system.
  • Participate in internal and external training courses where identified.

Product

On-Site Duties

  • Perform thorough visual assessments of rental fleet and lifting equipment.
  • Oversee the maintenance, management, and certification processes for equipment.
  • Maintain and update the Motive online certification database accurately.
  • Conduct NDT on rental fleet equipment to ensure integrity and compliance.
  • Assist with general workshop duties as and when required.
  • Support tasks including spooling, inspection, and socketing of wire ropes

Off-Site Duties (Local & Offshore)

  • Carry out visual inspections of lifting equipment and accessories at various sites.
  • Execute non-destructive testing and magnetic rope testing on site.
  • Use the Motive online certification database for remote equipment management.
  • Manage wire rope spooling, socketing, and inspection tasks.
  • Facilitate the removal and installation of crane wire ropes.
  • Participate in offshore operations and work assignments across international locations as required.
  • Perform Magnetic Rope Testing (MRT/EMAG) on wire ropes used on cranes and winches
  • Execute controlled-tension wire rope spooling operations for cranes and winches
  • Carry out wire rope socketing 
  • Perform NDT inspection on critical load-bearing components (MPI, ET, PT) 
  • Conduct lifting equipment inspection and certification in line with applicable standards 
  • Lead and support crane and lifting gear load testing operations
  • Prepare and issue accurate inspection reports, test certificates, and technical documentation

Required skills / knowledge:

  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • Educated to a proficient standard
  • Ability to manage and prioritize workload
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team. 
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines
  • Non-destructive testing certification.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication skills. 
  • Proven hands-on experience with cranes, winches, and lifting equipment across onshore/offshore environments
  • Offshore survival & medical (can be provided).
  • Rope access certification (can be provided).
  • Eddy current inspection (can be provided).
  • Years of relevant experience in wire rope inspection, spooling, and socketing
  • Training/Experience in Magnetic Rope Testing (MRT/EMAG)
  • Recognised NDT qualification(s) (e.g. PCN, ASNT, or equivalent) in relevant methods PT, MT, ET
  • Lifting equipment inspection competency (LEEA preferred)
  • Willingness to travel and work on both onshore and offshore projects across the UAE/GCC
