About the role
At Damen Yachting we design, build and refit some of the world’s most advanced luxury yachts, expedition and shadow vessels. As our product portfolio continues to grow and technologies and regulations evolve, the connection between product development, engineering and sales becomes increasingly important.

As a Junior Design & Proposal Engineer, you support this alignment. You contribute to ongoing sales opportunities while gaining experience in the technical development of our yacht platforms. Working together with experienced colleagues, you help translate requirements and ideas into feasible yacht concepts.

This role combines technical sales support with contributions to product and platform development. The main focus is on supporting sales opportunities and proposal activities, complemented by involvement in platform development and technical studies.

Your position in the organization
You will be part of the Product Management organization and work closely with Sales and Engineering.

In your day-to-day work, you are involved in sales opportunities and platform initiatives, supporting collaboration and information flow between disciplines.

You will work with Product Managers, Sales Managers, Engineering disciplines and external parties such as suppliers and classification societies, under guidance of more experienced colleagues.

What you will do:

Sales & proposal support

  • Support Sales Managers in preparing technical proposal documentation
  • Assist in developing and maintaining General Arrangements and Technical Specifications
  • Help translate client, sales and market requirements into feasible technical concepts
  • Provide technical input during sales meetings and internal reviews
  • Contribute to cost calculation concepts in cooperation with Product Management and Finance

Product development & platform support

  • Contribute to Product Definition Packages (PDP), working with different engineering disciplines
  • Support the transition from concept definition to Engineering under guidance of senior colleagues
  • Assist in maintaining and improving technical documentation and platform data
  • Contribute to lessons learned, standardization and continuous improvement
  • Support ensuring compliance with applicable Class and Flag requirements

You will work on both existing platforms and developing concepts, with the opportunity to learn and gradually take on more responsibility.

Product lifecycle & future developments

  • Contribute to defined activities within the product lifecycle
  • Support feasibility studies related to:
    • Platform development
    • New technologies
    • Regulatory changes
  • Prepare structured technical input and basic analyses to support Product Managers

These activities will be performed alongside your involvement in sales and platform support work.

Supplier & stakeholder interaction

  • Support interaction with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Assist in reviewing technical and regulatory aspects of supplier proposals
  • Support coordination between Product Management, Sales and Engineering within your scope

  • You contribute to improving technical documentation and platform consistency
  • You actively learn, develop your technical skills and apply lessons learned in your work

What you bring

  • A BSc or MSc in Naval Architecture, Shipbuilding or Marine Technology
  • 0–3 years of relevant experience or a strong interest in yacht design and engineering
  • Basic experience or affinity with tools such as Rhinoceros, AutoCAD, Maxsurf or similar
  • A practical and structured working approach with attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills in an international working environment
  • Proficient in Dutch and English

You are eager to learn and develop your technical knowledge while working across different disciplines.

The salary for this position ranges between € 3,200 and € 4,025 gross per month (based on a full-time contract), excluding holiday allowance. The exact salary depends on your knowledge and experience. This position falls under the Metalektro collective labour agreement.

In addition, we offer 27 vacation days and 13 ADV days per year (full-time), holiday allowance, travel allowance (25 cents/km), a solid pension scheme, flexibility to work from home and ample opportunities for training and development.

Practical information

The position is based in Vlissingen, Koningsweg 2. Hybrid working is possible to limited extend in line with the nature of the work and team agreements. The role operates in an international context, with regular interaction with suppliers, partners and classification societies.
