Position Title: Business Analyst

Department: Data & Analytics/ Shared Services/ Financial Group Control

Location: Damen Middle East

Reports To: Data & Analytics Manager / Head of Data & Analytics

Employment Type: Full-Time

JOB PURPOSE

As a Business Analyst at Damen, you play a key role in translating data into actionable insights for business stakeholders. You identify information needs and convert them into clear dashboards and reports that support management decision-making.

You operate at the intersection of business and data, acting as a liaison between stakeholders, data engineers, dashboard developers, and the business. You translate business questions into well-defined requirements and user stories to ensure data solutions align with organizational needs.

This is a hands-on, operational role. You work closely with the business to analyze requirements and translate them into analyses, reports, and dashboards, while also supporting stakeholders in effectively using data and insights.

About the Organization

You will join an international organization where data and analytics are increasingly central to decision-making. The organization is actively professionalizing its data and BI landscape, with teams operating across multiple international locations.

A central data and analytics team collaborates with specialized teams for data engineering, data platform management, and dashboard development. Key focus areas include strengthening data governance, standardizing reports, and KPI definitions, and developing organization-wide dashboards.

Over the coming years, the data and BI domain will continue to expand, with the objective of embedding data-driven working practices across the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Analysis & Reporting

  • Translate business questions and information needs into structured reports, analyses, and dashboards
  • Perform business, financial, and statistical analyses to identify trends, anomalies, and root causes
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports (e.g., Power BI)
  • Monitor performance indicators and identify operational risks and improvement opportunities
  • Provide data-driven recommendations to support management decision-making

Requirements Management

  • Define, document, and prioritize business requirements and user stories
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications for development teams
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and reviews
  • Ensure alignment between business needs and data solution delivery

Data Governance & Quality

  • Support implementation of data governance standards and policies
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy of KPI definitions and reporting frameworks
  • Contribute to development of data models and validation standards
  • Maintain data quality, reliability, and usability across reporting systems
  • Promote standardized reporting practices across the organization

Stakeholder Management & Communication

  • Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders on data and analytics matters
  • Support stakeholders in interpreting reports and dashboards
  • Provide guidance and training on data-driven decision-making
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences
  • Facilitate workshops and requirements gathering sessions

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Delivery and maintenance of accurate and reliable management dashboards
  • Timely and high-quality data analysis and reporting
  • Clear documentation of requirements and user stories
  • Alignment of business requirements with IT and data solutions
  • Adoption of standardized KPI definitions and reporting frameworks
  • Data quality and integrity within assigned reporting domains

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Finance, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field

Experience:

  • 5–8 years of experience in BI reporting, data analytics, or business analysis
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proven experience in BI reporting and dashboard development
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate business needs into data solutions
  • Experience with Power BI and data modelling
  • Experience working with multiple data sources and ERP systems (e.g. SAP S/4HANA or IFS)
  • Experience presenting insights to management
  • Experience with Agile working methods and writing user stories is a plus
  • Pragmatic, independent, and solution-oriented mindset
  • Affinity with AI and the use of AI tools to support data analysis is a plus
