Senior Offshore Engineer

Are you ready to take the lead in shaping how offshore/ repair projects are engineered and executed? In this role, you will be at the heart of complex offshore projects that directly contribute to the energy transition, ensuring safe, efficient and high‑quality delivery of offshore engineering scopes that connect the green power of tomorrow.

Company / Team Context
At NKT, we play a key role in enabling the global shift to renewable energy by designing, manufacturing and installing high‑voltage cable solutions. Our offshore projects support some of the world’s most ambitious wind energy developments, and our engineering teams are central to making these projects a success whilst also catering for a lifecycle of customer care and repairs. You will join an international environment where collaboration across disciplines, borders and functions is part of daily work, and where continuous improvement and learning are actively encouraged.

Offshore Engineering Team
The Offshore Engineering team is responsible for translating repair and smaller installation project requirements into safe and executable offshore solutions. Based in Rotterdam, the team supports cable installation and repair projects worldwide, working closely with project managers, tender teams, installation crews, vessel operators, subcontractors and clients. As Senior Offshore Engineer, you will sit at the intersection of technical leadership, people management and project execution, ensuring robust engineering solutions.

Role Content
As Senior Offshore Engineer , you lead and coordinate offshore engineering activities across multiple projects. You guide your team in developing repair preparedness documentation, procedures, method statements, calculations and risk assessments for offshore cable installation and repair operations. You balance resources across projects, aligning competence and availability with delivery priorities, while maintaining consistent engineering ways of working. You act as a key technical interface towards project managers, tender teams, installation teams, clients and subcontractors, ensuring that engineering scopes are well understood and aligned. When projects move into execution, you support engineering readiness, vessel and equipment interfaces and, where needed, provide hands‑on support during offshore campaigns, troubleshooting technical challenges and capturing lessons learned to continuously improve future projects.

What you bring to the team:
To succeed in this role, you combine strong offshore engineering expertise with natural leadership and a collaborative mindset.

  • A BSc or MSc in Maritime Technology, Naval Architecture, Offshore Engineering or a similar discipline
  • Extensive experience in offshore engineering, subsea cable installation, repair or marine operations, including leading engineering activities across project phases
  • Solid understanding of offshore methods, vessel and equipment interfaces, installation and repair procedures, technical documentation and risk assessments
  • Proven ability to coordinate teams, plan resources and coach engineers in their professional development
  • Strong analytical nature and communicational skills, enabling you to align technical topics with diverse internal and external stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel internationally and support offshore activities, vessel mobilizations and project meetings when required

You will have opportunities to develop your technical and leadership skills further through challenging projects, collaboration with experienced colleagues, and exposure to international offshore operations.

About NKT

Our company at a glance

In a globalised and interconnected world, with a rapidly increasing population and demand for a modern lifestyle, the need for power is constantly growing. At NKT, we have made it our purpose to bring power to life by helping meet the growing need for energy.

Founded in 1891, during the second industrial revolution, we pioneered the cable industry in the Nordics. Today, we master the fourth industrial revolution with our energy transportation expertise and cost-effective manufacturing facilities at the highest technological level, delivering lifetime value to our customers and the global society.

Trusted partnerships

We take pride in long-term relationships and effortless collaborations, making doing business with us simple, convenient, and efficient. Many of our customers have been with us for decades, maybe because we see ourselves as both their local partner and international supplier, always willing to go the extra mile to ensure the right cable solution.

Performing in real life

The environments in which our products and solutions function are often harsh and unfriendly. Laying down a long sea cable on the ocean floor in an unexpected storm or repairing 100-year-old power cables in the ground of a busy metropolis is not for everyone. We know that performance counts in challenging circumstances, and that is when we deliver.
