Department: Data & Analytics/ Shared Services/ Financial Group Control

Location: Damen Shared Services, Abu Dhabi

Reports To: Manager Data Analytics

Employment Type: Full-Time

JOB PURPOSE

As a Business Analyst at Damen, you play a key role in understanding business needs and translating them into actionable data and reporting solutions.  You act as a bridge between business stakeholders and data/IT teams, ensuring that requirements are clearly defined, challenged where needed, and converted into meaningful dashboards, KPIs, and insights that support decision-making.

This role requires strong business understanding, stakeholder engagement, excellent communication skills and the ability to translate operational needs into structured BI solutions, with a focus on driving data-driven decision-making across the organization.

About the Organization

You will join an international organization where data and analytics are increasingly central to decision-making. The organization is actively professionalizing its data and BI landscape, with teams operating across multiple international locations.

A central data and analytics team collaborates with specialized teams for data engineering, data platform management, and dashboard development. Key focus areas include strengthening data governance, standardizing reports, and KPI definitions, and developing organization-wide dashboards.

Over the coming years, the data and BI domain will continue to expand, with the objective of embedding data-driven working practices across the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Understanding & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Develop strong understanding of business operations and processes
  • Act as trusted advisor to stakeholders (Finance, Operations, Projects)
  • Proactively challenge business requirements and assumptions to ensure clarity and feasibility
  • Familiar with the agile way of working
  • Facilitate workshops to define KPIs and reporting needs

Requirements Translation & Solution Design:

  • Translate business needs into functional requirements and user stories
  • Align business expectations with data models, dashboards, and reporting solutions
  • Act as the bridge between business and technical/data teams

BI & Reporting:

  • Support development of Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions
  • Define and standardize KPIs and reporting frameworks
  • Ensure outputs are business-relevant, actionable, and aligned with decision-making needs

Data Governance & KPI Standardization:

  • Drive consistency in KPI definitions and reporting structures
  • Support data governance initiatives and best practices

Stakeholder Enablement:

  • Support stakeholders in interpreting dashboards and insights
  • Provide guidance and training on data-driven decision-making

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Clear translation of business needs into (BI) solutions
  • Adoption of standardized KPI frameworks
  • Delivery of business-relevant dashboards and insights
  • Strong alignment between business stakeholders and data/IT teams
  • Improved data-driven decision-making across the organization

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Finance, Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field

Experience:

  • 5–8 years in Business Analysis or BI/reporting roles
  • Strong stakeholder management and requirement gathering experience
  • Proven experience translating business needs into data and BI solutions
  • Mandatory experience in a project-based, engineering, manufacturing, or industrial environment
  • Exposure to finance, business control, or operations domains is required

Business Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of project-based environments and operations
  • Experience working with finance, business control, or operational teams
  • Ability to connect business processes with data and reporting solutions

Technical Skills:

  • Power BI (incl. Star Schema or similar relations)
  • ERP systems (SAP, IFS, Dynamics)
  • Understanding of data modelling concepts

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement
  • Ability to challenge requirements constructively
  • Ability to translate between business and technical teams
  • Proactive, structured, and solution-oriented mindset
  • Professional proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
