The role

We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate is a proactive and innovative individual who can contribute to our company's reputation for quality construction and engineering with several years’ experience, preferably within the maritime industry. You will be part of an Engineering team which prepare the Detail Engineering package. You will be able to work in different fields of your expertise and over time develop even beyond.

Key accountabilities

Collaborating in the execution of the engineering phases: basic engineering, detailed engineering, and production support;
Prepares the execution documentation based on an approved class documentation, respectively based on an approved study documentation;
Updates the execution documentation in case of changes, and introduces observations of the Classification Society and/or Shipowner;
Is responsible for the executed / verified documentation to be in correlation with the technical and technological possibilities of MEGa or of the internal or external beneficiary, for which he prepares the documentation;
Working closely together with all stakeholders;
Analyzes the documentation received in MEGa from other suppliers, contributing to the completion of the documentation with the necessary elements for introduction into manufacturing;
3D model of assigned systems for detailed engineering, design checks and design reviews;
Is responsible for respecting the deadlines for handing over the prepared works.

Skills & experience

You are open, communicative and a real team-player;
You are proactive and capable of maintaining a clear overview;
You have a degree in Mechanical / Naval Engineering or related field of expertise;
At least 3 years of relevant work experience in the field of shipbuilding engineering;
Familiar with 3D CAD software like AutoCAD, DraftSight, Nupas-Cadmatic, 3DX Catia;
Excellent communication skills in English;
Demonstrated interest in innovation and openness to new technologies;
Proven track record of working effectively in a team and planning and organizing work efficiently;
Quality consciousness, practical approach, and results-focused

Damen Shiprepair & Conversion (DSC) has a worldwide network of 18 repair and conversion yards with drydocks ranging up to 420 x 80 metres. DSC yards have extensive experience – completing more than 1,300 projects every year, from normal drydockings for scheduled maintenance to damage repair, right up to extensive refit and conversion projects.

Services

Being active in the maritime industry demands continuous vessel reliability. For nearly all vessel types Damen offers a broad range of services, including maintenance, spare parts delivery, training and the transfer of shipbuilding know-how.

Components

Damen is also specialised in the design and production of various marine components including propeller nozzles, rudders, special towing winches, anchors, anchor chains and steel works.
