IHC Services LCE Internship

As an intern, you will be responsible for setting up a calculation method for a high-load suction inlet on trailing suction hopper dredgers (TSHDs). A suction tube generates various loads, including: tensile, shear and shear force; bending moment; and torsion.

These different 3D loads under various conditions (scenarios) must be combined to define the loads on the ship. This will serve as input for the class approval and the strength calculations for the vessel's construction.

The aim is to establish a verified calculation method (including detailed description) of the suction tube inlet that yields a result that is accepted by Royal IHC and the relevant class offices (such as Bureau Veritas).

To be eligible for this position, you must have the following:

  • mechanical engineering or structural engineering education on bachelor degree
  • enthusiasm for new technology and heavy offshore equipment
  • ability to plan your own work
  • ability to liaise with colleagues at all levels
  • good command of the English language, both written and verbal.

Terms of employment
Royal IHC offer you a challenging internship within a successful and dynamic company with a reputation for being a worldwide leader in technological innovation.
