Project Engineering Internship (Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering)


Within a larger research project at IHC IQIP, detailed fatigue studies using finite element analysis (FEA) in FEMAP are required for some of our products.

As an intern, you will be responsible for: • performing fatigue analyses on one or two products

  • defining the appropriate method and code during the project.
  • documenting the knowledge gained in a general work instruction on fatigue calculations based on FEA.

Basic analysis will be centred on linear elastic. Depending on your skills, this may be extended to non-linear plastic analyses with strain-based fatigue.

To be eligible, you must be: • enrolled in a bachelor's degree in mechanical/aerospace engineering

  • a highly motivated student with skills in FEA (or willing to learn these), including:
  • intermediate knowledge of fatigue
  • knowledge of steel and familiar with non-linear/plastic behaviour (desirable)
  • willing to apply scientific knowledge in an engineering environment
  • able to communicate effectively in English
  • skilled in producing technical documentation.
