Instrument & Control Engineer

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Instrument & Control (I&C) Engineer to support an FLNG project during engineering, construction, and commissioning activities at the yard.

The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing and coordinating instrumentation and control engineering documentation, ensuring consistency between field instruments and control systems, and supporting the implementation and documentation of modifications and commissioning activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and coordinate Instrument & Control engineering documentation.

• Maintain and update the project I/O List throughout the project lifecycle.

• Review signals to and from Vendor Packages and ensure correct integration with the project control system.

• Verify consistency and connectivity between:

  • Field instruments

  • Junction Boxes (JB)

  • Multicore cables

  • Marshalling cabinets

  • ICSS

• Coordinate with Engineering Contractors, vendors, construction teams, and other disciplines.

• Identify and resolve discrepancies between engineering documentation and field installation.

• Define and follow up on the retagging of existing facilities and ensure associated engineering documentation is updated accordingly.

• Support field engineering activities, inspections, walkdowns, testing, and commissioning.

• Participate in technical meetings and coordinate the resolution of field and engineering issues.

• Review technical documentation, drawings, datasheets, instrument lists, cable schedules, and related deliverables.

• Ensure that engineering activities comply with applicable project specifications, codes, and standards.

• Support commissioning and start-up activities related to instrumentation and control systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience.

• Previous experience on a major offshore, FPSO, FLNG, LNG, or equivalent project.

• Experience working through construction at a yard up to commissioning activities.

• Strong experience with:

  • Project I/O Lists

  • Instrumentation and control signals

  • Vendor Package interfaces

  • Junction Boxes

  • Multicore cables

  • Marshalling cabinets

  • ICSS

• Ability to coordinate and follow up on instrument retagging and associated documentation updates.

• Experience working with Engineering Contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.

• Good understanding of instrumentation and control systems in an offshore/industrial environment.

Technical Knowledge

• Familiarity with applicable IEC standards/codes.

• Knowledge of relevant marine specifications and requirements.

• Understanding of instrument installation, cabling, signal transmission, and control system interfaces.

• Experience with field engineering and commissioning activities.

Availability

• Candidates who are available to join at short notice are preferred.

• Candidates currently based in the UAE are preferred.

• Willingness to work at the project yard and support construction and commissioning activities is required.
