Job description

At Oceanwide, you're presented with the unparalleled opportunity to play a pivotal role in tugboat operations as a Chief Officer. Collaborating closely with the Master, you ensure safe and effective towage missions across both national and international waters. You'll manage navigation and oversee deck operations. Safety is our top priority; as our Chief Officer, you are responsible for strictly adhering to safety protocols, ensuring that the crew is always well-prepared for whatever comes their way.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate navigation and maneuvering operations, focusing on safety and efficiency.
  • Lead the crew, including managing towing lines, securing cargo, and performing maintenance tasks if needed.
  • Maintain high standards of maritime skills and safety among the deck crew.
  • Ensure compliance with international maritime laws and regulations.
  • Actively contribute to voyage planning and monitor weather conditions.
  • Serve as a crucial link between the Master and crew for smooth communication and operation.
Job requirements
  • Possession of required STCW certificates, including a valid COC Chief Officer.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a maritime leadership role at sea, preferably in tugboat operations.
  • Exceptional navigation skills.
  • Deep knowledge of maritime legislation, with a special focus on tugboat operations.
  • Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
  • Proactive and efficient problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and act decisively in emergency situations.

Job requirements may vary per client/ship! The above is expected of every Chief Officer who works for towage vessels for Oceanwide.
