As we continue to expand our footprint in Brazil, we are looking for a Chief Accountant to strengthen our local finance organization in Rio.

You will join a small and entrepreneurial team and play a pivotal role in ensuring statutory compliance, financial reporting, and operational continuity. Working closely with local and international stakeholders, you will help build a solid financial foundation for both our current activities and future projects in Brazil.

Your responsibilities

As Chief Accountant, you will take ownership of the local accounting and statutory activities and act as a key finance partner to the local business and international finance teams: 


  • Managing all statutory accounting and reporting requirements. 
  • Ensuring compliance with Brazilian accounting standards (CPC / Brazilian GAAP) and supporting IFRS reporting towards DEME headquarters. 
  • Coordinating month-end and year-end closing activities. 
  • Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and supporting cash flow management. 
  • Managing intercompany accounting and reconciliations. 
  • Coordinating internal and external audits and acting as the primary contact for auditors. 
  • Ensuring timely and accurate statutory filings and regulatory reporting. 
  • Working closely with external accounting, payroll and tax advisors. 
  • Supporting payroll and tax compliance processes together with local service partners.
  • Providing financial reporting and insights to local management.
  • Reviewing financial and contractual clauses for local projects and commercial activities.
  • Supporting budget follow-up and SG&A cost monitoring.
  • Contributing to the further growth and professionalization of DEME's finance function in Brazil.

Your profile
  • A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting
  • Approximately 3 to 5 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Experience in statutory accounting and financial reporting within Brazil.
  • Good knowledge of Brazilian Accounting Standards (CPC / Brazilian GAAP) and IFRS.
  • Experience with month-end and year-end closings, audits, statutory reporting and intercompany accounting.
  • Solid understanding of the Brazilian tax environment.
  • Experience working with external accountants, auditors and tax advisors.
  • Professional proficiency in Portuguese and English.
  • You take ownership and work independently.
  • You have a proactive and solution-oriented mindset and enjoy operating in a growing and evolving environment.
  • You have an interest in broadening your scope towards controlling activities.
