Provides technical approval and guidance on equipment selection, operating methodology and maintenance strategy. Works independently whilst influencing Sales, Operations, Engineering and Customers to deliver safe and commercially effective solutions.

| Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential
- Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
- Significant experience within offshore mechanical systems, decommissioning or subsea operations.
- Strong knowledge of:
Winches Spoolers Hydraulic Power Units Hydraulic control systems Mechanical and hydraulic cutting equipment Back deck equipment
- Experience supporting offshore operations.
- Experience developing operating procedures and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of LOLER, PUWER and offshore lifting regulations.
- Good understanding of equipment certification and maintenance requirements.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
- Ability to support commercial tendering and technical proposal development.
Desirable
- Experience within offshore decommissioning projects.
- Knowledge of IMCA guidance.
- Experience with offshore mobilisation and commissioning.
- Experience delivering technical training.
- Experience developing competency management systems.
- Offshore certification (BOSIET/FOET, MIST, Medical) desirable.
- Chartered Engineer or working towards professional registration.

| Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
•Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for decommissioning and back deck mechanical equipment.
•Provide technical leadership on the application, operation and maintenance of:
Winches
Spoolers
HPUs
Cable and umbilical handling equipment
Hydraulic tooling
Mechanical and hydraulic cutting systems
Ancillary deck equipment
•Maintain technical knowledge of industry developments and emerging technologies.
Sales & Tender Support
•Support Business Development and Sales teams during tendering activities.
•Recommend optimum equipment configurations based on customer requirements.
•Develop technical methodologies and equipment deployment strategies.
•Review customer specifications and provide technical clarifications.
•Attend customer meetings and presentations as the technical representative.
•Support commercial teams with technical risk assessments.
Operations Support
•Work closely with Project Managers and Operations teams during mobilisation planning.
•Participate in project kick-off meetings.
•Provide technical guidance throughout offshore operations.
•Assist with troubleshooting equipment issues during project execution.
•Conduct post-project technical reviews and lessons learned.
Asset Governance
•Develop maintenance philosophies for SMS assets.
•Define inspection and certification requirements.
•Ensure assets remain compliant with applicable legislation and industry standards.
•Review equipment performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
•Drive equipment standardisation across the fleet.

•Ensure documentation reflects current best practice.
Training & Competence
•Develop competency frameworks for equipment operators and technicians.
•Produce structured training programmes.
•Deliver classroom and practical equipment training.
•Support competency assessments for offshore personnel.
•Mentor engineers and technicians within SMS.
Customer Interface
•Act as the technical focal point for customers.
•Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), system integration testing (SIT) and offshore acceptance activities.
•Build strong technical relationships with customers and suppliers.
•Represent SMS during audits and technical reviews.
Continuous Improvement
•Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, utilisation and operational efficiency.
•Capture operational lessons learned and implement improvements.
•Support new equipment development and technology evaluation. |
