Job Summary:

The Tender Engineer plays a key role in supporting the preparation of technical and commercial proposals for offshore projects. Reporting to the Tender Manager and working closely with the Senior Tender Engineer, this position is ideal for someone looking to grow their career in both the technical and commercial aspects of offshore engineering. The role involves assisting in tender preparation, technical assessments, and cost estimation to ensure the submission of competitive bids in the renewable energy sector.

Reports to: Tender Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Tender Document Preparation:
    Assist in preparing technical and commercial proposals for offshore projects, ensuring compliance with client requirements and industry standards.
  2. Technical Evaluation Support:
    Conduct research and support technical evaluations of project requirements, helping the team to address specifications and technical challenges effectively.
  3. Collaboration Across Teams:
    Work closely with senior engineers, project managers, and other departments to gather the necessary data and ensure a full understanding of project scope and objectives.
  4. Cost Estimation Contribution:
    Collaborate with the cost estimation team to assist in developing accurate cost estimates for materials, equipment, and labor required for projects.
  5. Risk Identification:
    Participate in identifying risks and potential issues in tender proposals, contributing insights to support competitive and well-structured bids.
  6. Proposal Writing Assistance:
    Help draft sections of technical and commercial proposals, ensuring clarity, completeness, and alignment with client expectations.
  7. Client Queries and Interaction Support:
    Support communication with clients by helping address technical queries, clarifying requirements, and ensuring thorough understanding during the tender process.
  8. Documentation and Organization:
    Maintain organized records of tender activities, proposals, and communications, ensuring all submissions are accurate and meet deadlines.
  9. Professional Development:
    Engage in learning opportunities to expand knowledge of tendering processes, offshore engineering, and commercial project management.

Key Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, Maritime, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Candidates with a Project Engineering background and a strong interest in commercial roles are encouraged to apply.
  2. Prior experience (internships or 1 year of work) in engineering or project management is beneficial, with an openness to transitioning into the commercial aspects of tendering.
  3. Basic knowledge of offshore engineering principles, with a desire to grow in both technical and commercial expertise.
  4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams and communicate technical details clearly.
  5. A high level of attention to detail, particularly when handling multiple tasks in a time-sensitive environment.
  6. A proactive approach to learning, with the ambition to develop both technically and commercially within the offshore renewable energy sector.
