Offshore Audiovisual Technician


Have you worked for at least three years as Audiovisual Technician and are your looking for a completely different working environment? Our subsea activities are focused on carrying out underwater work including construction work, inspection, repairs and maintenance for oil and LNG import/export facilities, offshore rigs, pipelines, cables and offshore wind farms. The work is performed using divers as well as Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs). These robots are able to carry out a wide array of underwater tasks. In the role of Offshore Audiovisual Technician you are responsible for ensuring the state of operational and safe readiness of our subsea inspection spread and audiovisual. This includes related spare parts and auxiliary equipment. 
As Offshore Audiovisual Technician your main tasks will include: 
  • Ensure the agreed availability and reliability of the inspection- and AV equipment in the most efficient, safe and environmental way as required for our projects.
  • Manage the repair of malfunctioning inspection- and AV equipment, manage equipment upgrade and refurbishment budgets during execution of these events whilst complying with quality expectations.
  • Ensure that all inspection- and AV equipment is maintained to a global operational maintenance and repair M&R standard and complies with the Boskalis asset maintenance procedures, legislation and industry guidelines. Be responsible for compiling all of the latest revisions of the operating and maintenance manuals for all of the inspection- and AV equipment.
  • Ensure all inspection equipment is calibrated and within certification as per manufacturer guidelines and both Boskalis Offshore and client procedures and liaise with independent verification body on the verification of this. Ensure all certificates are made available to the Project Manager well in advance of the day of mobilization and on the day of mobilization to the offshore representatives of the client and the independent verification body.
  • Provide regular updates on inspection- and AV equipment status to Local Asset Team Leader, Global Asset Manager, Operations Manager and applicable Project Manager. 
  • Be a subject matter expert on inspection- and AV equipment. 
  • Support project preparations with regard to inspection- and AV related equipment.
  • Assist the Global Asset Manager in the preparation of the annual equipment operating and maintenance budget. 
Job requirements
To be a successful as Offshore Audiovisual Technician you will need the required knowledge and experience. You will need the following: 
  • A Bachelor’s degree at higher vocational education (HBO) level in mechanical engineering or electrical engineering.
  • At least three years of relevant work experience in a role as Audiovisual Technician or similar. 
  • It’s a plus if you have experience in the offshore or maritime industry. Affinity with Boskalis projects is required.  
  • Hands on mentality. 
  • Ability to communicate with ease at various levels with both internal clients and domestic and international suppliers. 
  • Ability to perform tasks independently and without unnecessary assistance. 
  • Perfect command of written and spoken English.
  • Willingness to make short trips abroad. 
  • Strong preference for a dynamic work environment and you are able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.  
  • You don’t mind to work on call duties if necessary. 

Additional information
The job of Offshore Audiovisual Technician is a full-time position (40 hours a week) based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Relatively short trips abroad may be required from time to time. You will work in a team of mixed nationalities with its own characteristic mentality: everyone is prepared to go the extra mile, even if it means not being able to make it home in time for dinner every day.
