RINA is one of the oldest societies in the world for the classification of merchant ships, based in Genoa Italy and having exclusive offices abroad in 60 countries.

We’re looking for people who want to grow or consolidate their know-how in TIC (Testing, Inspection and Audit, Certification, Classification) and Engineering (Consulting Engineering, Design, Project Management, Operability Assurance) services.
RINA Group is currently looking for a Marine Surveyor for Rotterdam office for the Benelux area. 
 
Main tasks: 
  • Classification surveys of ships – new buildings and ships in service 
  • Surveying various types of maritime equipment, machinery and cargo-handling equipment 
  • Surveys and certification on behalf of public and governmental authorities 
  • Reporting, communication and cooperation with clients and colleagues 
  • Contribute towards further development and growth for RINA 
  • Produce accurate and concise reports 
  • Deal with clients' queries on a daily basis 
  • Demonstrate a high level of effectiveness and commitment 
 
Professional Experience: 
  • At least 5 years of professional experience, either as class surveyor or as owner superintendent or as Chief Engineer (on board of merchant ships)
  • Preferable, experience in  Gas/LPG or LNG,  onshore or on ships 
  • Previous experience as a surveyor of Classification Societies would be an advantage 
 
Training and Qualification: 
  • Formal qualification in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering 
  • Equivalent gain during the working experience with shipping, industry, offshore   
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of hull, machinery, materials, equipment and safety systems of ships 
 
Other Requirements: 
  • Fluent in English language, both spoken and written 
  • Physically able to work in confined spaces, hazardous atmospheres, extreme temperatures and weather conditions, etc. 
  • Willing to travel frequently 
  • Good communication skills 
  • Ability to work in a team and on tight schedules 
  • Ability to manage conflicts and to negotiate 
  • Proactive customer focused approach 
  • Holding valid driving license
